There’s Love Here...A Bedroom Refresh - ORC Week 3

Ready to paint?

Ready to paint?

With 2 weeks left to go, it’s time to tackle a few of the major to do’s…but first, paint swatches!

Swatch Like A Pro
There are two types of folks in this world…those who swatch and those who do not.
This is a judgement free zone and if you are in either camp, you’re welcomed here.

I swatch. After narrowing it down to the color I love and a few I like, I go out and buy those 2 oz containers to give them a test drive. At $11 a pop, I can see why some folks skip this step but not I!

In addition to the main walls, I placed a swatch directly next to the bed. Seeing how each color plays with existing furniture is helpful.

I swatch on all the walls to which I’ll be applying paint.
I swatch near major pieces of furniture that will be incorporated in my finished look. It’s important to see how the colors play with the pieces.Afraid to get paint on the wall you’re about to paint? I get it. It’s a legitimate fear!
Try painting swatches on white oak tag poster board and moving to different areas of your space.
If painting swatches really isn’t your thing, Clare paint has adhesive patches you can move and reuse in different areas of your space. They’ll mail 5 samples to your home for $5!

Leave the swatches up for a few days. Live with it. See which one speaks to you!

The Plan
We’ll be painting the room over the next few days. Our wallpaper is scheduled for delivery so we want to tackle hanging it too. Window treatments and wall art are being finalized and will be ordered this week. Since nothing in the space requires custom, we’ll get everything in time. I do need bedding and just remembered that as I typed this. Fun!
I also am going to heed Linda’s advice and reach out to one of my photog friends to get the space photographed when we’re done.

The Pitfalls
I’d really like to add recessed lighting to the alcove. Send some positive thoughts to the universe to make this happen folks.
Also, has anyone ever painted a radiator that’s super close to a wall? If so, send tips!

The Progress
Check back next week as I share our painted room, installed light fixture and see the direction we’re talking with the alcove for this one room challenge.
Be sure to check out behind the scenes in my IG stories too and of course, you are welcomed to see what I’m loving on my Pinterest page.

I love the fourth option but I really like the first…and second.
