Common Design Crimes and How to Avoid Them

You have the right to remain silent.
Any poor choice you making when designing your home can and will affect you for years to come.
You have the right to hire a Design professional.
If you can’t afford one, here are 3 bailouts to help you avoid interior design prison.

Space Theft

Buying furniture that’s too large or too small will rob you of well needed space or leave you with unintended space.

Bailout: Measure your space before making a purchase, plot out the pieces you need on paper or an app then keep in mind the most important aspect when space planning…SCALE!

2nd Degree Assault

Ok…that description is a bit much but have you ever sat in a chair that’s so uncomfortable it feels like assault? Avoid buying seating that you don’t enjoy sitting it.
Bailout: Buy from a reputable company with a reasonable return policy. If you get a sofa or chair which you can’t sit in for long periods, swap it out for something more comfy.

Lighting Larceny

Too lighting lighting in a room can affect the look and feel. Natural lighting is great but having the appropriate sconces, lamps and the like will give you the lighting you need.

Bailout: Also as important is the right bulb. Please, please, please…know the difference between soft, white and daylight.
